Finally blackfish are fair game. July 16th marked the opening of blackfish season with a one fish a day bag limit. We are now targeting tog along with seabass and ling on all our ocean wreck trips. A short trip to the inshore wrecks on 7/19 produced some great action with the blackies. Most fish were in the 17" range with a couple of real slobs broke off due to to light of tackle. Time to bring the heavy stuff for the 10lb plus bulldogs that we target. Today I had Blackfish Doug,Bill and Lou out for an all day wreck trip. A very large ground swell limited some of the areas that we had planned to fish but the 3 anglers managed to box up a very nice mixed bag by the end of the day. We had nice showing of cod and ling in addition to the usual seabass. The guys finished the day with 50 keeper seabass topped by Lou's jumbo knucklehead of 4 lbs, 4 codfish(2 keepers to 23"),5 ling to 3lbs,and 4 blackfish to 17". I am sure the bite was slowed by the large swell so it looks good for upcoming trips with plenty of quality fish still in the area. We have a few open dates for seabass and blackfish trips in the next few weeks. Plenty of good fishing on the wrecks this summer. Please call or email for more details on any of the trips we offer. Thanks for looking
