I ran 2 trips since the last report. One with very good seabassing and one with our slowest bottom fishing in 3 years. With the quality and quantity of fish we have been catching this season it was rough to take it on the chin with a slow trip but I guess that's why they call it fishing. On 6/3 I had Anthony from the "Tackle Box" tackle shop for a seabass trip. The morning greeted us with pea soup fog and close to zero visibility. As soon as the radar was warmed up we proceeded to safely navigate our way to the inshore grounds. A few adjustments on one drop is all it took for Anthony to box his 25 fish limit with fish to 3.75lbs (19"). He also caught and released a very nice blackfish. On the way home we stopped and had some first class top water action with bluefish on the shallow water flats. Tons of fun with 3lb fish on light tackle. On 6/4 I had a few guys from New Jersey Saltwater Fishing website(NJSWF.COM).With some very high expectations Phil ,Guy and myself set off to fill some limits. We had a pick of fish on the first drop and from there the bottom fell out. No matter were we tried we just could not make it happen. The surface water was down to a chilly 57 degrees from the prior south winds but I have never seen the bite this slow. Put up against the great fishing we have been experiencing it made for a disappointing fish box for 2 very good fisherman. With the very slow bottom fishing I asked the guys if they want to give the bay a shot for some bluefish and fast action. Off we went and with in 4 cast the first yellow eyed demon was crashing the surface lures. For every fish landed 10 more were smashing the surface in the shallow water. Most fish were in the 2 to3lb range with some 4lbers and Guys top fish of 6.25lbs. After grabbing a few for the grill and releasing plenty the guys called it a day with 10 seabass and 12 nice bluefish in the box. Not the trip we had hoped for seabassing wise, but still a very memorable day spent with two very good fisherman and fine gentleman. It looks like its going to be windy this weekend but this week looks very good with some nice northwest winds. We are still waiting to see a new push of fish move into the area and much of the water deeper than 80feet has no seabass on it. When they show the fishing should explode. Thanks for looking
