The fishing that we have been dreaming about all year is here and even better than we had hope for. Even though we at Fishguts Inshore Charters specialize in catching good number of quality seabass during the hot summer months the fishing that we have experienced in the last week is nothing short of incredible for any time of year. Anglers catching limits of seabass have been common and some days the quality is outstanding with plenty of 15" plus fish. Well today the bar just got set even higher with the best single day trip of quality and quantity that we have ever experienced on-board "Fishguts". Bill Morgan, his son "Boo" and boat regular Pat enjoyed the type of fishing we dream about. Light winds and current, tons of fish, and plenty of jumbos seabass. The 3 anglers boated some big stuff today with top keeper being a jumbo knucklehead that taped out at 23" and weighed 4.75lbs. They also had 8 fish over 2.5 lbs mixed in with their 75 fish limit. I even got to add 25 nice fish myself to the box for an even 100 big seabass and boat limit. The anglers also released blackfish up to 6lbs and a few 20" codfish for more fast action. This was a trip that I am sure we will all remember and talk about for years to come. On 7/11 I had Brian and his Two buddies out for a bay fluke trip. This 3 anglers enjoyed some of the best light tackle fluking of the season racking up 127 released fluke in a few hours of fast pace action. The also had the bonus of nailing 3 fine keepers at 19",19" and 22". Again for fast paced light tackle action this is about as good as it gets. August dates a filling fast. If you are interested in one of the trips we offer please email or call for more details. More great pictures in the gallery to check out. Thanks for looking.

Two more trips since the last report and both had very good fishing. On 7/9 I had John ,Nikki and Pat out for an allday wreck trip. The three anglers have fished with me many times and put a hurting on the seabass that day. The conditions were a little bumpy with a large SE ground swell but the fish bit fine. The groups boxed a 75 seabass limit and released plenty of shorts and good size blackfish. A short stop in the bay had fair action on the bottom of the tide that produced a dozen short fluke and Nikki nailing a 19" keeper. Today I had Chris and Sammy out for a planned 8 hour trip. The weather was a little questionable last night but the seas were very calm this morning. Our main concern was a storm front that was coming in from the west that would shorten our day. The guys went right to work boxing some nice keeper seabass and releasing tons of shorts. With the rains coming we called it a very short day at 10:45am with 40 fish in the box. Not much on quality today but the numbers were very good for a few hours of fishing. A fine day with some fine gentleman. Please call or email for more details. Plenty of new pictures in the gallery. Thanks for loo king and get out fishing.

The best seabassing of the season |

On 7/6 I had a 3man all day wreck trip with Blackfish Doug, Bill and Pat. The 3 experienced fisherman enjoyed one of the best bites of quality seabass we have had all season. Bills goal was to land a personal best catch of 25 keeper seabass in one trip. Before 1pm Bill was admiring his 25 fish limit of big knuckle heads. While landing their 75 fish limit the 3 anglers also caught 5 cod and a dozen nice blackfish. The blacks were all released as were the cod except for the fat 22 incher that made its way to the box. This will be a day we all remember as summer time seabassing at its finest. Today I ran an ocean/bay combo with Guy,Tom and Joe. This would be the first time wreckfishing for the group. It did not take them long to get the feel for it as keeper and short sea bass were flying over the rails. The guys boxed 30 nice fish for a jumbo bag of fillets before lunch when it was time to give the bay fluking a go. The bay fluking was on fire with rods bending one after another. The anglers had plenty of nice 16 to 17.5" fish until Guy put the hook to a sweet 21" 3.1lber. A great day spent with some great guys. The summer fishing has been about as good as it gets with great numbers and awesome quality fish. We still have a few dates left in July to get in on the fine fishing. We post pictures of all trips and not just "reports of great fishing". After July 15 we start targeting jumbo blackfish on our ocean wreck trips. We have a few spots open on our open boat trips for next week. Please call or email for more details. thanks for looking
