Season ending limits & thanks for a great season
Wednesday, 01 September 2010
What a great summer of seabassing. Many great catches  and lasting memories along with plenty of jumbo bags of fillets. This will be the last full fishing report for the 2010 season and we will start our new reports in late May of 2011 when we kick off our wreck trips and light tackle top water bluefish trips. Please feel free to take a look at our photo gallery for pictures of all trips and final fish counts. Lots of large piles of fish and many smiling faces. Our company motto is "Come for the experience and leave with the fillets". This week offered plenty of both. The last few days offered some of the best condition in terms of weather and water that we have had all season. Good clean water with very light winds and currents offered us a chance to really load the coolers on the last trips. 8/30 It was Bill his son Boo and Wilson fishing a short day (1pm) racking up 53 keeper seabass to 3lbs in glass came conditions. On the 31st I was looking to end the season just how it started......limits of big fat seabass. Bill,Blackfish Doug and Kurt were ready and started the morning out with a fair pick with a handful of nice fish going into the box. A short move found more keepers and nice steady bite developed. Plenty of 14" to 16" seabass and even a 5 lb Amberjack came into the mix. One more short move gave the 3 anglers their 75 seabass limits and I even had a chance to add a few more to the box. We then set our sites on our blackfish limits. Plenty of short tog and empty hooks until a few larger models started chewing. No big guys  but some nice eating 14" to 15" fish topped off a great day and a great season. 9/1 Today I ran a fun trip with my pop to the inshore wrecks. Tons of life and plenty of hungry seabass. We grabbed a limit of seabass  after weeding through many short fish and then went looking for one more jumbo blackfish to end the season . Great action on the toggies today with baits getting crushed. Lots of mixed size fish from 12" to 25"for fast action. My pop scored the jumbo today with a 10.1 slob to close a wonderful season. Thanks to everybody that fished with us this season. We will again be sailing 7 days a week in our 2011 season starting around the last week of May and will start taking bookings in late January.  If you have any questions about any trips we offer please feel free to email us  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  and if you are looking to bottom fish in the Fall/Spring or have more than 3 anglers www.Fishmongercharters.com  are the guys to call. Plenty of big seabass
Saturday, 28 August 2010
After a few days off from the last blow it was right back out to the wrecks. Plenty of life and bait showed up and also some of the cleanest water of the season.  Most trips are having no problem finding large numbers of hungry fish. The trick is to find large numbers of hungry big fish. The amount of short fish in the 11" to 12" range has been incredible and are covering up many pieces of bottom. We also saw our first croaker and weakfish of the season this week for an added bonus. On 8/26 it was the 3 man Russel charter out for an all day wreck trip. Great conditions and even better catching. The guys racked up a very impressive late summer catch on big seabass and a few other tasty fish. At trips end 61 seabass to 3lbs, 1 croaker,1 porgy and a bluefish hit the fillet table. On 8/27 it was some great Penna guys Jeff ,Chris and Pat back out to the inshore wrecks for more great seabassing. The morning greeted us with strong North winds and choppy seas. We were force to site close to shore for a few hours pounding short seabass and a few keepers while we waited for the winds to fall out.  At 11:30 the seas calmed and we pushed off the beach a bit finding what the guys were looking for. Big hungry seabass. The guys went right to work hammering away at a very good bite of mixed size fish. Some big knuckleheads came up topped by two 4lb fish. At 2:30 we called it a day and headed in with 55 keeper seabass, 1 weakfish, 1 blackfish,and 1 porgy for a jumbo bag of tasty fillets. Today it was the father and son team of  8 year old Jack and his father John. The two first time wreck fisherman did a great job landing very good numbers of fish in calm conditions. Plenty of smiles, laughs and fish to go around. Looks like young Jack will be a future sharpie for sure. He did an awesome job baiting, hooking, and reeling in all his own fish. It did look like a few of the big knuckle heads were going to pull him over at times but he managed to win the battle and put some tasty fillets in the cooler. We had planned to also stop in the bay for weakfish but with windy conditions the crew opted to go to lunch instead.  The two piled 20 nice seabass to 3lbs  for great action in a few hours of fishing.  A great day and tons of lasting memories. Once again  plenty of great pictures of all trips in the gallery and not just  "we caught em up reports". Looks like the offshore storms should pass well to the east and let us get in the last week of our season.Check back for pictures and reports. Thanks for looking  827alldaywreck_006.jpg828fathersontrip_001.jpg
